Welcome to the MV computer.  If you're reading this, that means that you've signed on, opened either IE or Firefox, and you're ready to use the computer.  A few quick things that you'll need to know:

  • This computer is relatviely locked down to promote the health of this machine.  If Windows asks you to update Windows itself, or if you see Java or Flash updates, go ahead and do them.
  • To access the wireless internet here in this house, the first thing you want to do is bring your laptop over near the router located by the stereo, and plug the free cat5 ("network") cable that you'll see coming out of the back of the router.  Once connected via a wired connection to the network, send a blank e-mail (no subject or content) to the following addresss:



    In about a minute or two, you'll be sent an e-mail with the proper credentials to get online wirelessly in the house.  At this point, please remove the wire from your computer.  Follow the directions in the email to get your laptop or other wireless device connected to this wireless network.
